Igorot Haikus is a page devoted to haikus by Igorots, for the world. While haikus are defined by the 5-7-5 syllabic structure, as practiced in the English language, compositions herein will also incorporate the so-called “free style” which places importance on the images evoked by the poem. Rigidity in structure is thus simply an option, an attempt to stay true to the intents of the original Japanese masters.

The author of Igorot Haikus is a descendant from what have been fierce headhunters in the Cordilleras of Northern Philippines: a stroke survivor, writer and editor, a health freak….and above all, a prayer warrior and believer in the infinite goodness of our Creator.
